reCAPTCHA is currently implemented in our booking widget (v3).

What is CAPTCHA?
CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a tool used on websites to assess whether an actor is a human or a bot. It is commonly used to prevent bot attacks and attempts at spam or scam.
We (Booxi) are using Google's reCAPTCHA v3.
reCAPTCHA does not affect the booking flow or experience; the only element visible to your customers is the disclaimer shown in the booking confirmation step shown below:
Why is Booxi implementing reCAPTCHA?
We (Booxi) are implementing reCAPTCHA as a preventative security measure against fake bookings.
How does it work?
For technical information on reCAPTCHA v3, see here.
reCAPTCHA v3 operates on a score-based system: whenever an agent interacts with the booking widget, reCAPTCHA v3 assigns the interaction a score (ranging from 0.0 to 1.0). A higher score (closer to 1.0) indicates a greater likelihood that the user is human, while a lower score (closer to 0.0) suggests bot-like behavior. reCAPTCHA is assigned a score threshold (e.g. 0.5), such that only bookings whose score is equal to or greater than the threshold will be permitted, whereas those whose score is lower than the threshold will not be permitted.
Our current reCAPTCHA implementation is assigned a score threshold of 0.5; this threshold is subject to change as we gather data to fine-tune its settings to ensure optimal protection and security for you.
If you are part of the Custom plan, you may change your score threshold; to do so, contact your Booxi representative.
*Note: CAPTCHA is only supported by the booking widget v3.
