What is the impact of Open Hours and how to edit them

The "Business Open Hours" feature allows you to set opening hours for your business, which may impact different parts of the app based on your configuration. For reference, this feature functions similarly to staff schedules.

What are the effects of open hours in Booxi?

  1. Staff and resource availability (only if the respective schedules are listed to "Open Business Hours")

  2. Open hours listed on your booking page

Business open hours do not affect the status of your store (i.e. whether it is listed as online or offline).

Open hours shown on your booking page will display the current date at the top (in bold), followed by the rest.

Use cases

This feature will be relevant if:

  • Your open hours are variable:

    • Seasonal schedule

    • Extended or limited open hours

    • Temporary closures for vacation or inventory management

    • etc.

  • Holidays impact your open hours

  • Your staff's availability is based on your business open hours

  • Your resource availability is based on your business open hours

How to set open hours

To access, navigate to "My Business" tab, then select "Open Hours".

To create a new schedule:

  1. Click the “⊕” button

  2. Select a date range (i.e. a start and end date)

  3. For each day of the week, select a start and end time (you may add various time ranges within a day)

A schedule represents a recurring week. Its hour ranges can be defined for each day individually. The example below showcases a daily schedule with 2 time ranges: one from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a one hour lunch break (between 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM) and a second one from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

*Note: You may create multiple “Open Hours” schedules, but they cannot be overlapping. Only one will be active at any given time (the active schedule will be marked with a green dot).

How to edit Business Open Hours

⚠️ Important: When editing open business hours, changes are applied in real time. If a schedule is to end soon but no subsequent schedule is created, there may be no availability for new appointments until a new schedule is created (when scheduling personnel based on open hours).

Your open hours section will display all existing schedules (i.e effective periods), each with its own start and end dates.

⚠️ Important: Once the end date of a schedule has been reached (and no other schedule is active), your store will appear as closed on your booking page. To avoid this, make sure to update your schedule or create a new one.

Managing Staff and Resource Availability

If you wish to manage staff and resource availability based on your business open hours, make sure to set their respective schedules to “Open Business Hours”.

For staff:

  1. Navigate to "Personnel" tab

  2. Select "Work Schedule"

  3. Choose the "Open Business Hours" option in the dropdown menu

Staff availability will affect the time slots shown to clients when booking appointments if your service's configuration allows for it.

For resources:

  1. Navigate to "Resources" tab

  2. Select "Availability Schedule"

  3. Choose the "Open Business Hours" option in the dropdown menu

Resource availability will affect the time slots shown to clients when booking appointments if your resource's configuration allows for it.
